How a Bike Gets Secured on My Deck
A motorcycle has two contact patches and no parking brake worth trusting, so the front wheel goes into a chock first and everything else follows from there. Soft loops go around the lower triple tree or the frame, never across brake lines, plastics, or a clutch perch, and the straps compress the forks just enough to load the suspension without bottoming it out for the whole ride.
The bikes I pick up around Nashville are rarely wrecked. More often it's a charging system that died after a night downtown, a rear tire that picked up a screw on Briley Parkway, a chain that went slack on the way back from a ride down Highway 100, or a bike that won't start in an apartment lot in the Nations.
